RJ45 port and its pin definition

Author:

The RJ45 port is a network card port, which is a widely used LAN port, similar to an Ethernet cable port. It has 8 pins (Pin) that can be used to plug in an Ethernet cable. Each pin has its specific function, including data signals, power, and ground.
The RJ45 port is used in hardware devices for computer networks, such as hubs, routers, switches, and other devices with ports. This interface is also widely used in data, voice and video transmission technologies.
For the RJ45 port pin definition, in general, according to the standard definition of the RJ45 connector has a total of eight pins (pin): 1, 2 (orange, used to connect the data bit line), 3, 6 (green, used to connect the ground line) 4, 5 (blue, used to connect the network ground line), and plug into the device when the wiring methods are: “differential mode”(signal twisted), “independent mode” (do not affect each other). At present, the common domestic use is “differential mode”, the pin definition is as follows: 1-orange and white, 2-orange, 3-green, 4-blue, 5-blue and white, 6-green and white, 7-ground (yellow and green), 8-shield (grey).

RJ45 connectors and lan transformers—core components for building high-speed, stable networks

The RJ45 connector, as a standard interface for modern network communication, is of undeniable importance. This 8P8C (8 position 8 contact) connector transmits data via four pairs of twisted wires, each pair using a specific twist rate to cancel electromagnetic interference. Professional RJ45 manufacturers ensure signal transmission stability by optimizing contact plating (usually using a 3μ gold plating process) and insulation materials.

Will RJ45 connectors become obsolete in the context of future network trends? A technological outlook.

As a core interface for Ethernet communication, the RJ45 connector remains the preferred choice for enterprise, home, and industrial network deployments due to its stability and broad compatibility. Its standardized 8P8C (8 position 8 contact) structure supports data transmission from hundreds of megabits to tens of gigabits, while also being compatible with PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology, further expanding its application scenarios.

Why do you need multi-port RJ45? In-depth analysis of its functions and application scenarios

A multi-port RJ45 is a connector that integrates multiple network interfaces. It is widely used in enterprise, data center, smart home, and industrial network environments. Compared with traditional single-port RJ45, it can provide multiple Ethernet interfaces (such as 4-port, 8-port, 16-port, etc.) on the same module, greatly improving wiring density and network scalability.
